Hania Derej Trio
Hania Derej Trio is a new project by composer and pianist Hania Derej, in which the artist combines her previous interests and creates new, modern songs based on her recent experiences. The trio’s music is based on electronic jazz sounds with elements of neoclassical music. There are moments of high intensity, strong emotions and controlled chaos, but also fragments with beautiful and melodious melodies surrounded by a large amount of ostinato and repetitiveness. A lot is happening in Hania’s life, she meets many people and travels constantly. Her music has always been autobiographical, and this is still the case today. The project and the album tell the story of current struggles, the race, dilemmas, ups and downs that affect each and every one of us.
This material has been presented at major festivals in Poland and abroad, such as OFF Festival, Pol’and Rock, Riga Music Week, Polish Jazz Festival in Budapest, Music Week Poland and Iceland Airwaves. The band performed at two of the world’s largest showcase festivals — Eurosonic in Groningen and SXSW in Austin. The project received a double Grand Prix at the Energa Ladies Jazz Festival Competition in Gdynia. Recently they came back from a tour in Mexico, where they played in jazz clubs and at festivals.
The full album will be released on 25 September 2026 through the Dutch record label ZenneZ Records. Before that, in April, May and June, three singles appeared on streaming platforms. In May the trio went on a Europe / Poland tour, and in the autumn the group is going to play a lot in Europe again.

Hania Derej Quintet
A project that came into being in 2022 and presented itself at the CHOJAZZ2022 International Jazz Workshop in Chodzież. Since then, the leader, a pianist, has begun to compose and augment her concert material. The pieces, which were created on the run, on the move, between lessons or on the train, are a reflection of the artist’s state of mind, emotions, reflections and situations she was in when she was in her final year of high school.
In June 2023, the quintet presented itself at the 25th Bielska Zadymka Jazz Orlen Jazz Festival in Bielsko-Biała. The reception of the audience was very positive, which prompted the artist to record an album. The material was recorded in October 2023 in the studio of the Polish Radio Katowice. Hania received a proposal to cooperate with the Dutch label ZenneZ Records, which is based near Amsterdam, and it is under this label that the album was released — on 21 June 2024, preceded by two singles on 3 May and 31 May.
Both the first and second singles (“Busy Day” and “FUNky Time”) have made it onto prestigious playlists in Poland and abroad, such as “New Music Friday Poland”, “EQUAL Spotify”, “Fresh Finds Poland” and “Fresh Finds Jazz” (USA). Since its formation, the band has played many concerts at jazz festivals, cultural institutions and music clubs.
